Well, it’s been a while since I’ve consistently been up here making entries. Hopefully that will change soon. I want to get back on track because I was really doing some good things. For the most part, I’ve been able to keep those up these last few weeks. I’m still tracking my money real well. Of course, right now that means I’m tracking it leave my bank account. I’ve had some things come up where I had to add to my debt a little bit, but at least I’ve made some plans to attack the new debt. I’ll write more on the stuff that life brought up the last few weeks over the course of this month. The one thing that I have not had any success with lately is my health and my weight. I have defintely dragged on my diet and my exercise routine. So, I guess I’ll be making that my focus over the next couple of weeks. I’ve got to get back on track.
Money
The main thing I need to focus on in July is using my money wisely and with a purpose. Over the month of June, I didn’t do horribly with my money, but all that did was put me into the position where I can start really attacking my debt. I kept up with the bills, I made it through the hard times, some of which I was expecting. Now, it’s put up or shut up time, because I will definitely have some extra money this month. I’ve already been tempted to buy some concert tickets instead of paying stuff off, but I talked myself out of that. So, kuddoos to me, at least on that one.
Health & Fitness
This is the biggie, because I didn’t do practically anything the last month. I ate horribly and I didn’t exercise. Not a good combination, especially if your goal is to lose weight and get healthy. Not only have I gained weight the last month, I’ve found some other health-related issues might be coming up soon. Unfortunately, I won’t know anything on that front until mid-September, so until then, I have to figure out a good way to keep on track.
Work & Career
At least I have good news on this topic. I’ve got a new job that pays more, and I absolutely love it at the new job! The only thing I need to do in this area is keep working hard, and it will keep being great.
Overall
So the theme of this post is getting back on track, which is exactly what I need to do!

For some reason, it seems like I have used a lot of banks in my lifetime. I tried a bunch of them, but I didn’t like them for some reason or another, and/or I had to leave them for some reason. Sometimes I didn’t like banks for my own mistakes that they rightly charged me for, and I know that’s not exactly fair. At the moment, I’m banking with two different banks. One, is a bigger bank that is big in the state and spread out a little bit in the Southeast. The second is a credit union located here in town. Of the two, I think I like the credit union better, but I only have a savings account there, and checking accounts is where my concern is. I also have a savings account on ING Direct online, and I really like that service, even though the interest has been dropping awfully fast lately. I just uploaded an updated version of my money spreadsheet. No major changes or anything, but I did make a few changes.

You have to watch out what happens at times when you are really stressed. If you are like me, you get to panicing a little bit, and go into a sort of survival mode. I’ve noticed my little survival mode is: I do what I need to do for today, with no thought of the consequences for the future. Of course, this makes it very important that I can do two things, avoid getting that feeling of “survival” mode and being better at stopping myself once I’m in the “survival” mode. This is just a quick thought; I’ll get back to this later after I’ve had some time to brainstorm it. Let me know what ya think…

Well my hope that my car would last me until I was able to buy a new one is gone. A couple of weekends ago, my car broke down and the cost to repair it is more than the cars worth. After stressing out about all of this for a few weeks, I finally ended up getting a used car via a loan through a credit union. Now my credit isn’t good at all, so I had to get some help with the loan. What I ended up doing is having my mom get the loan through the credit union with me as the co-signer. It’s definitely not the best way to do this, but unfortunately, I didn’t have much of a choice. Where I live, you pretty much have to have a car. There is no public transportation or anything.
In the end, it means I’ve added on some debt. The good thing is that I’ve got a nice car that will last me longer than I’ll pay on it. I’m going to truly try to pay off the car in less than two years so I can get out from under this loan and make sure my mom is out of it as well. I may have had a set back but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep taking steps forward.
